Nina Rose Cochran

August 15, 1915 - December 22, 2006
SALEM - Nina Rose Mills Cochran, 91, went home to be with her Lord on December 22, 2006. She was born August 151915 in Densmore Kan. to Aaron Clyde Mills and Martha Ellen Barham Mills. She married Merle LeRoy Cochran on April 15, 1933 in Wakneeye Kan. In the early 40’s Merle traveled to Oregon and Nina followed on the train with their four children. They moved quite often, living in Idaho, Washington, Oregon, and California.
Nina worked in the fruit fields and harvested beans, working in a canery, bakery, and then owning a donut shop. Nina worked for her son Darrel for 2 years, then retired with Merle to Lincoln City in 1970 to 1998.
Nina lived with her daughter, Ellen for 5 years, in 2003 she lived with her daughter, Evonne, and then with her granddaughter Eileen and her husband Steve Rubino who were her caregivers until she went home to be with her Lord.
Nina is survived by her children, Marlene Askland, Wanda Barker, Opal Mason, Phyllis Gomez, Lyle Cochran, Rita Wiedeman, Nancy Weaver, Ellen DeSelms, Debbie Throop, and Leila Glasser; and numerous grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Merle; her sister, Ida Mills; brother, George Mills; and 3 children, Darrel Cochran, Evonne Cunningham, and Twilla Bratten.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Dec. 30, at the Assembly of God Church, Brooks. She went peacefully.
